Delta Tone 9000

DELTA TONE 9000 IS A COATING SYSTEM APPLIED BY DIP SPIN OR SPRAY TECHNOLOGY, PROVIDING EXCELLENT SALT SPRAY RESISTANCE FOR RELATIVELY SMALL COATING THICKNESSES.

The Delta Tone material is a mixture of Zinc flakes held in a suspension of organic binders and solvents. The applied and cured coating forms a 97% Zinc rich structure of laminated Zinc flakes. The resultant silver coating of 10-12µm gives performance in excess of 500 hours Salt Spray resistance to ASTM B 117. Coating uniformity and repeatable torque characteristics makes this an ideal corrosion protection for threaded fasteners and spring fasteners alike, does not give rise to hydrogen embrittlement.

Dip Spin Application

This method is ideal for small components such as fasteners, spring clips etc. and involves the component being loaded into a centrifuge basket to a pre-determined weight and spun/tilted/spun to pre-determined speeds and times to achieve a uniform coverage of the component. Processed work is cured at 180 degrees Centigrade for 15-20 mins. The process is then repeated to produce a double layer of material of 8-10µm. This can be repeated to produce heavier deposits which also increases Salt Spray resistance accordingly.

Spray Application

After pre-treatment, the components are assembled onto jigs for spraying. Only one application is necessary to build up a coating of 8-10µm all over the component, which is cured at 180-210 degrees Centigrade for 15-20 mins.

After Treatments

To enhance the properties of this process, it is possible to combine other coatings such as Delta Seal or Dorrltech B17 which increases Salt Spray resistance and/or colour to the Delta Tone system (see duplex coatings).
